Margaret Knapke has edited a book called From Warriors to Resisters: U.S. Veterans on Terrorism, a valuable classroom resource to be used either as primary or secondary text. FWtR contains engaging first-person narratives from veterans and military personnel, explaining how they awoke to the reality of U.S. foreign policy. The book could be used, wholly or in part, in a wide variety of classes--from writing, to social studies or history, to ethics.
Margaret Knapke has made the book available as an online resource to facilitate its broad (and free) use as a counter-recruitment (as well as anti-war and anti-School of the Americas) tool. www.resistersbook.org

On global warming, which is rapidly becoming an issue that encourages a militarist response from the corporate warmongers, this comes from Bill Bigelow of Rethinking Schools:
" ... a film called "The Story of Stuff," about the human and ecological impact of the products we consume. A serious subject -- especially these days. But the film is as funny and playful as it is profound.

The filmmaker, Annie Leonard, has now made the film available online for free, at www.storyofstuff.com. Check it out; it's only 20 minutes and could be used in a lots of different classes -- global studies, economics, government, media studies, ecology. There are also some additional resources there, including a supplementary fact sheet to accompany the film."
